| FileMaker has been very busy providing an extensive array of advanced tools over the past year and this session will offer an opportunity to re-group and choose the most productive tools as well as how to extend their functionality. Several key techniques will be discussed to extend the effectiveness of those tools specifically low level debugging techniques and using the script parameter function to pass XML documents. In addition, we will look at using CURL to overcome some of the limitations of the web object, namely the ability to access web services data using authentication and providing true API integration. The session will also highlight some pitfalls in dealing with the advanced UI elements now provided and particularly revolving around layered field elements with tooltips calculations, object names and parameters attached. Finally we will look at an XML based plugin to extend the UI experience and allow for unlimited scalability of the complex interface without sacrificing screen real estate. |
